Our Church was born…

On Tuesday, June 7, 1825 a group of men met in the brown school house at the corner of West Mill and Main Street for the purpose of organizing a religious society.” … “The “Castile Society” was the name chosen for the original Church.

Needing a church home, they had the opportunity to repair ‘Captain Hurd’s’ factory, but on January 18, 1827 the people decided to build their own church.

Less than one year later – January 1, 1828, the building was completed at a cost of $375.00.   (This building eventually became the Castile Grange Hall.)
